Transport + Accommodation

Please find below details on how you can get to Edinburgh & Dundas Castle and where you can stay.

As a reminder, our wedding is on Saturday the 1st of August and will be from 1.30pm until midnight.

  • ON-SITE ROOMS (Saturday night only):

We’ve booked out the rooms in Dundas Castle and the surrounding estate cottages for the Saturday night only - there is still one twin room available at £210. The room sleeps 2 people and includes brekkie the next day.

Please kindly drop our friendly customer service team a message at phoebeandjonnyrgettinghitched@gmail.com if you’d like to book a room on-site and at what price for the Saturday as soon as is convenient, as we’ll allocate them on a first-come first-served basis.

    NEARBY:

The Dakota hotel in South Queensferry is also a ten-minute taxi away from Dundas.

    CENTRAL EDINBURGH:

From central Edinburgh it takes 45 mins to an hour to get to Dundas castle.

It has lots of Airbnbs, hotels and B&Bs to choose from.

We’d politely suggest sorting accommodation sharp-ish though as Edinburgh does get busy/expensive in August, due to the Fringe festival.

  • TRAIN:
There are regular trains running from Kings Cross to Edinburgh Waverley station, which is in the city centre - they take roughly 4 hours 15 minutes.

    SLEEPER TRAIN:
You can also get the Caledonian Sleeper overnight - it leaves London Euston at 22.30 in the evening, arriving in Edinburgh Waverley at 8am the following morning.

    PLANE:
Edinburgh airport is 30 minutes away from the city centre and 15 minutes away from Dundas castle by taxi. There are regular flights running from London airports.

  • FROM CENTRAL EDINBURGH
If you're coming from Central Edinburgh, there are the following options -

    • TRAIN/TAXI (45 mins): There are direct trains from Edinburgh Waverley station to Dalmeny, which take 16 minutes. You can then get a 15-min taxi from there to Dundas.

    • BUS (1hr 20): Lothian Buses run regular services from the city centre, please put your start point into their journey planner for up-to-date times. There is a bus stop called ‘Dundas Castle’ which is a 16-minute walk away from the venue.

    • TAXI/UBER (45 mins): Dundas castle is roughly a 45-minute drive from the centre of Edinburgh.

    FROM EDINBURGH AIRPORT

    • TAXI (15 minutes): Edinburgh airport is 15 minutes away from Dundas by taxi.

  • Guests should enter by the main gates of the estate leading from the B800 which runs between South Queensferry and Kirkliston.

Please be advised that the Dundas Castle postcode is not recognised on any GPS navigation systems, but by entering EH30 9SS you will be directed to the B800 where you will see the sign for the front entrance to Dundas Castle.

  • If you are coming from central Edinburgh, there are lots of Ubers so that shouldn’t be a problem.

However it can sometimes be hard to find Ubers further out - so if you are starting from Edinburgh Airport or Dalmeny we would advise booking in advance with a local taxi company.
